Klopp took office in October 2015, and his contract lasted until 2026.
He won the Champions League in 2019, and led Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years in 2019-20.
“I already told the club in November.” said Klopp, 56, who announced his decision alongside Premier League chiefs.
"I can understand that a lot of people are shocked when they first hear it, but I can explain it clearly - or at least try to explain it.
"I love everything about this club. I love everything about the city. I love everything about supporters. I also love the team and staff. I love everything. But still making this decision shows that I am confident. That's something I have to take.
“How can you say I don’t have enough energy? I don’t have any problems right now. Of course, I’ve known for a long time that I would have to present at some point, but I’m completely fine with it now.” I know I can’t keep doing that over and over again.”
